  Last year I broke my collar bone and was taken to Midwest Medical in Galena. I was in the emergency room for about 15 minutes and was sent home. They did not show me the X-ray of the break, and marked off on their report that they had. All they did was give me a basic sling and told me to rotate my arm a couple times a day to keep it loose. After a couple days of extreme pain I had to take off work and go to a different emergency room in Dubuque (and pay for that in addition to the Galena visit) The doctors showed me the X-ray. There was a shard of bone in addition to the break, which could have worked it's way down to my lung. They also made sure to put me in a figure 8 sling which held my shoulders in place so it would heal properly and explained that I had to wear the sling, otherwise surgery could be a possibility. Also the instructions to rotate my arm were incorrect. my arm needed to rest in order for the bone to heal. I was very displeased with the service and could have injured my shoulder more than it already was, if I had listened to the doctor's instructions.

  We were on vacation and wanted to get our 7month old checked for pink eye. I called Saturday morning, they told me to come in to the clinic. We were in and out in an hour. The staff was great. The nurse practitioner that we saw, Peg, couldn’t have been nicer. She was great with our daughter! Checked her out completely and decided it was an eye infection. Thank you Midwest Medical for getting us into your beautiful facility in such a timely manner so we could get back to enjoying our vacation.
